Oh blessed Light who deigned to pass
from Virgin’s womb as window glass,
I come before You here and now,
my knees I bend, my heart I bow.
I contemplate Your holy birth,
how You did come from heav’n to earth
to set us free from stain of sin
and bear us up to God again.
As infant You in manger lay,
as food now in ciborium stay,
a Body first of flesh and bones,
a Temple now of living stones.
Through Virgin meek and undefiled,
now man to God is reconciled.
So through her now we ask and pray
that You would come again today.
Oh break the darkness of this night
and fill my soul with holy light!
That we may not be kept apart,
be born again within my heart.
